Feels good, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to say goodbye to my little hellions on Thursday <3

The names of my last two labs have been as follows (there have been many more with similar naming adventures):
“Overreacting Much?” (students tested their reaction speeds by seeing how fast they could catch dropped rulers under various conditions)
“You Feel Me, Bro?” (in which they will test the sensitivity of various nerves)
Sometimes I wonder how I’m allowed to be an adult…
Woohoo AP Review
>.<;
I also had to change my entire plan because my fellow APES teacher cancelled on me at the last minute… And he was the one who had the practice test document.

…And it’s in Italian.
BUT WHO CARES BECAUSE IT’S CLOSE ENOUGH TO FRENCH THAT I CAN FIGURE IT OUT WITH SOME HELP OF GOOGLE TRANSLATE AND EXPLAIN IT TO MY KIDS.
I’m reading through their embryology lab essays, and am incredibly impressed by the vast majority of them. They truly put in the effort, cited evidence and support, and tied everything together really cohesively. It was like reading an actual PAPER, which is such a vast improvement from the lab reports at the start of the year.
:sigh: My babies are growing up…
Via thekidshouldseethis, a truly beautiful animated look that explains the simple elegance of DNA, and how, with just four bases at its disposal, it can code for everything that we are and everything that we know:
Director William Samuel and London-based studio Territory made this beautifully illustrated explainer of DNA for BBC Knowledge and Learning. Read more about their inspiration (hint!) and the BBC’s forthcoming site here.

How Mendel’s Pea Plants Helped Us Understand Genetics (now with working video!)
TED Ed takes a look back at Gregor the Monk’s pioneering genetics experiments featuring the humble pea plant. When you remember that he figured all of this out before we had even discovered DNA or the molecular idea of a gene, it’s even more amazing.
That heterozygote dance looks like fun.
